Introduction
MTSTeacher provides the instructor with the resources to
manage their classes. Teachers are able to edit their classes, add or remove
resources, view objectives and student records, and read reports.
System
recommendations: It is recommended
that MTSAdmin users have at either, version 5.5+ of Internet Explorer with
QuickTime 6.3 or Windows Media Player, or Netscape 7.1+ with QuickTime 6.3 for best functionality.
1.0 Teacher
1.1 Initial Login/Setting
Password
The school administrator will provide the initial
UserName. To set the password, follow these steps:
1.
Type the User Name into the field marked,
‘UserName’.
2.
Type the desired password in the field marked, ’Password’.
3.
Click the LOGIN button.
4.
The screen will then reset with the label, ‘Please confirm your password’ below the
‘Password’ textbox.
5.
Re-type the desired password into the textbox to confirm.
6.
Click the LOGIN button to enter MTSAdmin.
1.2 Selecting A Section
-
Select the desired menu choice from the MTS ADMIN menu shown below by clicking
on the appropriate text. Click on
the small arrow next to the word LISTS to hide or show the section options.
Clicking on LOGOUT will exit the user from MTSAdmin.
Note: Moving
the cursor over each section name in the LIST will highlight the text. This
helps the user identify the section they are selecting.

Once a section has been chosen, the user can move to other sections using the
list at the left, or the tabbed options across the top of the viewing screen.
1.3 Selecting A Record
-
Click the cursor in the empty box on the right hand side of the desired record. Wait
for a check to appear in the box and the row of information to be highlighted.
-
The PAGE drop down box in the right hand corner allows the user to view
additional records. Click the VIEW
button to open the record for viewing.
Click the EDIT button to open the record and add or remove objectives.
1.4 Classes
1.41 Editing A Class
-
Click on CLASSES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen.
-
Use the PAGE button on the bottom right to view additional classes. Click the
check box to the right of the desired class and wait for the check to appear
and the text to be highlighted. Click EDIT to open.
-
Click the ADD button over objective to assign objectives to a class or the ADD
OBJECTIVE button over students to assign objectives to a student. You will see
multiple folders. One folder is
MTS Lessons and the other contains your state test objectives with the tested
sub-skills and aligned lessons. A
menu of curriculum areas will appear below. Click on the desired curriculum
area to view categories or sub-categories, and then click on the desired
category or sub-category to view objectives. Use the GRADE button to view
objectives for a specific grade. Use
the PAGE button on the bottom right to view additional objectives. Select an
objective by clicking in the check box to the right of the objective name. When
the objective name is highlighted, click the OK button to confirm or click the
CANCEL button to cancel the action.

Delete class Assigned Objectives by clicking in the checkbox next to the
objective name. When the objective name is highlighted, click the REMOVE
button. A confirmation prompt will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click
YES to proceed with the action. Click NO to cancel.
Note: Delete student
Assigned Objectives by navigating to Student Record

Click the SAVE button to save the changes to the record and return to the main
screen. Click the MAIN button to return to the main screen without saving
changes.
1.42 Viewing A Class
-
Click on CLASSES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen.
-
Use the PAGE button on the bottom right to view additional classes. Click the
check box to the right of the desired class and wait for the check to appear
and the text to be highlighted. Click VIEW to open the class.

-
Use the MAIN button at the bottom to return to the CLASSES screen.
1.43 Viewing A Class Report
Class Reports can be viewed from the class screen.
-
Click on CLASSES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen.
-
Use the PAGE button on the bottom right to view additional classes. Click the
check box to the right of the desired class and wait for the check to appear
and the text to be highlighted. Click VIEW to open.
-
Select the report you want to view from the REPORTS menu on the left hand side
by clicking on the report title. To generate a report based on a date range,
enter a start date and end date in the “Date Range” fields. To show all
dates, select the “Show All” checkbox.

To generate the report, click the VIEW REPORT button. To print the report
either choose File > Print on the Menu bar or click on the picture of a
printer at the top of your browser.

Reminder: The report will open in a separate window. Close the window to view another
report.

When viewing a report based on student type, like “Class Roster” or
“Statistical Information” reports, you may select student type sub-groups. To
generate a report based on a date range, enter a start date and end date in the
“Date Range” fields. To show all dates, select the “Show All” checkbox. To
generate a report based on Student Type, click on the folder to the left of the
Student Type grouping to show the sub-groups. Select
the sub-group on which you would like to do reporting.

To generate the report, click the VIEW REPORT button. To print the report
either choose File > Print on the Menu bar or click on the picture of a
printer at the top of your browser.
1.5 Objectives
-
Click on OBJECTIVES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen. Once you click the objectives tab, you then see two folders listed. One
folder is MTS Lessons and the other contains your state test objectives with
the tested sub-skills and aligned lessons. A
menu of curriculum areas will appear below. Then the two curriculum areas, ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS and MATHEMATICS will
appear in a vertical menu.

Click on the curriculum area name or the folder next to the curriculum area to
view the list of categories or subcategories. Click on the category or
sub-category name to open the list of objectives. Use the PAGE button on the
bottom right to view additional Objectives.

Click the check box to the right of the desired objective and wait for the
check to appear and the text to be highlighted. Click VIEW to open the
OBJECTIVE.

After viewing the details of an Objective, use the MAIN button at the bottom to
return to the OBJECTIVE screen.
1.6 Resources
1.61 Adding A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen. Click ADD to create a new record.
-
Type the name and location of the new resource into the provided fields. Select
the GRADE from the pull-down menu.
-
Use the ADD button to align your resource to an identified objective. You will
see two folders. One folder is MTS
Lessons and the other contains your state test objectives with the tested
sub-skills and aligned lessons. A
menu of curriculum areas will appear on the left hand side. Click on the
curriculum area name or the folder next to the curriculum area to view the list
of categories or subcategories. Click on the category or sub-category name to
open the list of objectives. Select the desired objective by clicking on its
name and the objective will become highlighted.

Click the SAVE button to save the new resource and return to the MAIN screen.
-
Click the ADD ANOTHER button to save the new resource and create another entry.

Remember: If multiple resources have been entered, click SAVE after the final entry has
been made.
1.62 Editing A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen. Use the PAGE button on the bottom right to view additional
resources. Click the check box to the right of the desired resource and wait
for the check to appear and the text to be highlighted. Click EDIT to open the
record.
-
Type the necessary changes in name and location of the resource into the
provided fields. Select the changed GRADE from the pull-down menu.
-
Use the ADD button to add additional objectives. A menu of curriculum areas
will appear on the left hand side. Click on the curriculum area name or the
folder next to the curriculum area to view the list of categories or
subcategories. Click on the category or sub-category name to open the list of
objectives. Select the desired objective by clicking on its name.
-
To remove an objective, check the box next to the objective and click the
REMOVE button. A prompt will appear asking to confirm the deletion. Click YES
to confirm. Click NO to cancel the deletion.

Click the SAVE button to save the changes to the record and return to the MAIN
screen.
1.63 Viewing A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen.
-
Click the check box to the right of the desired resource and wait for the check
to appear and the text to be highlighted. Use the PAGE button on the bottom
right to view additional resources. Click VIEW to open the record. Resources
are also displayed when viewing an objective where a resource has already been
aligned.
1.64 Removing A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen.
-
Click the check box to the right of the desired resources and wait for the
check to appear and the text to be highlighted. Use the PAGE button on the
bottom right to view additional resources.
-
Click the REMOVE button. A prompt will appear to confirm the deletion. Click
YES to proceed with removing the record. Click NO to cancel the action.
Note: Multiple resources can be checked at one time to speed up REMOVE tasks.
1.65 Importing A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen.
-
Click the IMPORT button at the bottom of the screen.
-
Type the file name into the provided field or use the BROWSE button to navigate
to the correct file.
-
Click the IMPORT button to complete the task. Click the MAIN button to go back
to the main menu and cancel the import.
1.66 Exporting A Resource
-
Click on RESOURCES from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of
the screen.
-
Click the EXPORT button to go to the export instructions page.
-
If a list of files is displayed, select the one to export and click the EXPORT
button.
-
To create a file to export, click the EXPORT button.
-
If you are
prompted to Open or Save, select Save. A
new window will open displaying a list of existing files. Navigate
to the desired location of the new file.
In the text box labeled ‘File Name:’, type a name for the file. Include a period and
either the letters ‘txt’, or ‘csv’ after the file name.
(Example: resourceslist.txt) Change
the drop down box labeled ‘Save as Type:’ to ‘All Files (*.*)’. Skip
Step #6.

If a new
window opens displaying a list of students, Edit the file as
needed. Click the FILE button from your Web browser menu at the top of your
screen and select SAVE or SAVE AS. Type a name for the file. Include a period
and either the letters ‘txt’, or ‘csv’ after the file name.
(Example: resourceslist.txt) Change
the drop down box labeled ‘Save as Type:’ to ‘All Files (*.*)’
Remember: Make sure to note where the file is saved on the computer hard drive.
1.7 Students
1.71 Viewing A Student Profile

Click on STUDENTS
from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the screen. Student
records can be sorted according to grade by using the GRADE pull-down menu on
the main screen.

Use the PAGE button on the bottom right for additional students. Click the
check box to the right of the desired student and wait for the check to appear
and the text to be highlighted.
-
Click VIEW to open the profile. Use the MAIN button to return to the main menu.

1.72 Viewing A Student Record
-
Click on STUDENTS from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen.
-
Click the check box to the right of the desired student and wait for the check
to appear and the text to be highlighted. Use the PAGE button on the bottom
right for additional students. Click VIEW RECORD to view the student’s class
schedule.


-
Student reports and objectives are sorted according to their specific class.
Click the check box to the right of the desired class. A list of all objectives that have been assigned to that student will
appear. If the lesson has not been
taken yet, an ‘A’ will be to the left of the assigned lesson for assigned. If
the lesson has been taken, a ‘P’ for pass or an ‘F’ for fail will be to the
left of the lesson. Clicking on
the Lesson title will show a score for each time the student has taken the
lesson.

View STUDENT REPORTS by clicking on the text of the report title from the menu
on the left hand side.
1.73 Resetting a Student Password
-
Click on STUDENTS from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen. Use the PAGE button on the bottom right for additional students. Click
the check box to the right of the desired students and wait for the check to
appear and the text to be highlighted.
-
Click the RESET PASSWORD button. A prompt will appear to confirm the action.
Click YES to proceed with the password reset. Click NO to cancel the action.
1.74 Adding an Objective to a Student Record
-
Click on STUDENTS from the left hand menu or from the tab across the top of the
screen.
-
Click the check box to the right of the desired student and wait for the check
to appear and the text to be highlighted. Use the PAGE button on the bottom
right for additional students. Click VIEW RECORD to view the student’s class
schedule.
-
Student reports and objectives are sorted according to their specific class.
Click the check box to the right of the desired class.

To assign Objectives, click the ADD OBJECTIVE button. You will see two folders. One
folder is MTS Lessons and the other contains your state test objectives with
the tested sub-skills and aligned lessons. A
menu of curriculum areas will appear on the left hand side. Click on the
curriculum area name or the folder next to the curriculum area to view the list
of categories or subcategories. Click on the category or sub-category name to
open the list of objectives. Select the objective to add by clicking on its
name.

To remove Objectives, click the Light Green Objectives and Click the REMOVE
OBJECTIVE button. A confirmation
message will appear below the objectives.
To confirm, click the YES button.
To cancel, click the NO button.
(Note: Only the objectives in light green text can
be removed.)

Use the MAIN button at the bottom to return to the STUDENTS screen.
2.0 Troubleshooting MTSAdmin

Clearing Common Problems
Pinpointing exact problems with any software can be difficult.
Most problems can be cleared by one of the following procedures:
-
Hitting the “Refresh” button on the web browser.
-
Logging out of the application and then logging back in.
-
Restarting the Web browser.
-
Restarting the Computer.
2.2
Reporting Problems and Contact Information
Larger problems with MTS Admin should be reported to the
Multiple Teaching Solutions, Inc. representative right away. Technical
assistance can be reached by calling 1-800-xxx-xxxx.
It will be helpful to the representative to be as detailed as
possible in describing the trouble. Including:
-
The screen was open when the problem occurred.
-
Username being used when problem was experienced.
-
Writing down any special error messages, including code numbers.
